We all have those days that we just want to snuggle up, watching movies with chocolate, pop-corn and a nice comforting hot drink.
But not just any hot drink, a homemade caramel chocolate latte, made exactly to your preferences, for a sweet coffee sensation for the mouth!
This drink is perfect for people who are maybe just starting out with coffee so are not too keen, or used to the bitterness of it, because of the sweetness of the caramel and chocolate. But don't worry if your a huge bitter coffee lover (like myself) this drink is not just for 'beginners' the sweetness of the extra ingredients makes it to die for, and you never know it may just become one of your new favorite drinks! Its always good to try new things! :)
What you will need (makes a medium size coffee that will fit any average size mug):
- Coffee Machine (Do not worry it doesn't have to be as fancy or posh as this one!)
- Cocoa powder (You can buy special Chocolate powder for coffees) or some chocolate that you can grate into thin strips that will melt.
- Liquid caramel (or caramel that you can melt at home)
- 120ml of milk
- A mug
- A tea spoon
Once you have all your ingredients, go ahead and pour the 120 ml of milk into your mug, then, if you have a coffee machine that makes lattes, you can just set it to latte, but if you do not, set it to coffee, but stop it when the milk turns to a light oak kind of brown -don't worry if it doesn't look like much coffee compared to the amount of milk, lattes are meant to be like that! (the more coffee the more bitter the drink will be.)
Then get a tea spoon and start off by pouring enough caramel syrup to fill half of the spoon, and then drizzle it into the drink and mix it in well, if you want it to be stronger and sweeter keep adding half a tea spoon to the drink, and keep going until you get to an amount your satisfied with (remembering to test it each time you add some - this is because if you add too much, you can't go back and make it less sweet easily without starting again!)
Once you've sorted out the caramel, its time to top it off with the cocoa powder, pour it all over and mix it in well, again more or less according to your preference.
*Note: You can have it without the chocolate and/or caramel but if you are going to add something to it i recommend adding both as they work really well and really compliment each other! Also if you do not have a coffee machine that makes lattes, you need to warm up the milk in the microwave before hand, otherwise it will be cold, and trust me, that does NOT taste good!*
I hope you enjoy this drink, please leave me comments telling me if you like it or do not, and why, I'd love to see pictures of your attempts of making it! Also if you want me to post more hot drink recipes, and/or cooking recipes! :)
Best Wishes, Cx
This sounds so good!!
